And it came about, when he had finished speaking with Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. And Saul took him that day, and would no longer let him go home to his father’s house. Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe he had on and gave it to David, and his tunic, even to his sword and his bow and his belt. And David went out wherever Saul sent him, and conducted himself wisely. And Saul appointed him over the warriors, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul’s servants.

“Every dear human being needs a true friend in their life’
After David finished talking to Saul, Jonathan became very attached to David and came to love him as himself. On the same day, Saul took David home and did not allow him to return to his father’s house. Jonathan and David made a covenant because Jonathan loved him as he loved himself.
The Lord said in Genesis 2:18 that it is not good for a man to be alone. From childhood, every person has the need for friends with future perpective in to marriage if God ordained that to be.
A friend is someone who loves you unconditionally. Sometimes they know you better than you know yourself. They see your potential, where you look into your mistakes and failures. They see you on your worst days, in your darkest moods, and still choose to walk a path with you through life.
A true friend has your best interests at heart. They protect your back from the enemy’s attacks. Jonathan often stood up for David, when his father, King Saul, wanted to kill David. He gives David his cloak in 1 Samuel 18:4, which indicated his own identity as Prince. With this, he raised the shepherd boy to princely status in his eyes. A friend picks you up motivates you, and encouraging you to receive His future foundational relationship with God. He also gives his sword, bow, and belt like he did to David. His armament would surely be some of the best there is, and more David sized than his father’s. In doing so, he sought to protect David in the struggle of life.
This amazing honorable friendship with Jonathan carried David through many years of hard times. We all need friends in our lives. Friends of faith, who bring the Lord over our path. Men or women who love the Lord, and also for us. People you can share life experiences with.
Proverbs 27: 17 says “iron sharpens iron, friends form one another.”
Such a beautiful friendship is a gift from God. It can takes years to grow in depth. It takes time and sacrifices to maintain it. We can only have a few friendships in our lives. that’s why we should greatly value our friendship. Be kind to another and take good care of true friends. Do you want a friend like Jonathan? Than you got to oppertunity to be like David! : -))
