And being made perfect, He became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey Him; Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.
“Hebrews 5:9-10′
Have you ever wondered what it takes to be considered “perfect”? Is it something that we can attain on our own or is it something that we must rely on God for? “Hebrews 5:9-10′ tell us that Jesus Christ became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey Him, and was declared by God to be a high priest in the order of Melchizedek.
What does it mean to obey Jesus Christ? It means following His teachings and commands, living a life of faith, and seeking to serve and love others as He did. As we strive to obey Him, we are not only saved from our sins and given the gift of eternal life, but we also become more like Him in character.
Jesus Christ, our high priest, is the ultimate example of perfect obedience. He lived a sinless life, even in the face of great temptation and suffering. And because of His obedience, He was able to offer Himself as the perfect sacrifice for our sins, making a way for us to be reconciled to God.
As we seek to follow Jesus Christ and obey His commands, we can be confident that we are on the path towards eternal salvation. And as we grow in obedience, we become more like Him, reflecting His love, grace, and character to the world around us.
Let us pray:
