Proverbs 12:16

A fool’s wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.
“Proverbs 12:16′

It’s easy to react impulsively when we feel offended or hurt, but taking a moment to pause and consider our response can make all the difference. Our words have the power to either build up or tear down, to bring healing or to cause harm.

Our verse today reminds us that the wise person controls their temper, whereas the foolish person shows their anger openly. At times, our natural inclination may be to react emotionally and allow our anger to control our actions. However, this can often lead to negative outcomes and damage relationships.

As we strive to live a life that is pleasing to God, we must learn to control our emotions and not allow them to control us. This requires us to be intentional about our thoughts and actions, to take a moment to pause and consider our response, and to seek guidance and wisdom from God. Our emotions can often cloud our judgment, but we can always seek guidance and wisdom from God to act in accordance with His will. We must also be willing to accept the consequences of our actions when we fail to exercise self control and obedience.

Let us pray:

Dear Lord, almighty Heavenly Father, I confess that at times I have allowed my emotions to control my actions, especially when it comes to anger. I ask for Your forgiveness and help to exercise self control, especially in moments of frustration or hurt. Please give me the wisdom to respond with kindness and patience, rather than lashing out in anger. Help me to be slow to anger and quick to listen, seeking understanding and peace in all situations. I pray that You would transform my heart and mind, filling me with Your love and compassion. Thank You for Your grace and mercy. I pray this throughout the mighty, glorious, fulfilling name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Much LoVe, JoY, Peace and Blessings through Jesus Christ, our almighty wonderful, infinite loving, glorious, dear Lord, Saviour and Redeemer, in who we faithfully abide, trust, believe, and abundantly do receive throughout His marvelous righteous Word and His truth fulfilling Holy Spirit.
