Ephesians 6:10-18

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”(Ephesians 6:10-18)

Putting on the armor of God is not just a symbolic act, but a spiritual practice that is crucial for every believer. In this passage from Ephesians, the apostle Paul urges us to put on the full armor of God in order to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. This authority of armor is powerful because it reminds us that we are engaged in a spiritual battle that requires divine protection.

The first piece of armor is the belt of truth. As believers, we must embrace and live by God’s truth, which is found in His Word. It is this truth that holds all other pieces of the armor in place. We must also put on the breastplate of righteousness, which guards our hearts and protects us from the attacks of the enemy. Our feet must be fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, enabling us to stand firm and spread the message of peace and salvation.

We are also instructed to take up the shield of faith, which is essential for extinguishing the fiery darts of the evil one. This shield is our trust in God and His promises, and it serves as our protection in times of spiritual warfare. The helmet of salvation reminds us of our identity in Christ and guards our minds from the lies and deceptions of the enemy. And the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, is our offensive weapon in battle, enabling us to speak truth and combat the forces of darkness.

Finally, prayer is emphasized as a vital component of putting on the armor of God. We are urged to pray in the Spirit on all occasions, being alert and persistent in our prayers for all believers. Prayer is our way of staying connected to God and seeking His wisdom, strength, and guidance.

Let us take time each day to consciously put on the armor of God through prayer and the study of of God’s marvelous, righteous Word. By doing so, we can stand firm in our faith, resist the attacks of the enemy, and experience the victory that Christ has already won for us. May we be diligent in putting on the full armor of God so that we can live as overcomers in the midst of spiritual battle. Amen.

Let us Pray:

Dear Lord, almigty Heavenly Father, I come before you today with a humble and contrite heart, seeking your strength and protection as I face the spiritual battles in my life. Your word in Ephesians 6:10-18 reminds me that my struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the powers of darkness in this world. I pray that You would gird me with your truth, that I may stand firm in the face of deception and lies. Clothe me with your righteousness, that I may be holy and blameless in your sight. May my feet be shod with the readiness of the gospel of peace, that I may bring your message of hope to those around me. I take up the shield of faith, to extinguish the fiery darts of the evil one, and the helmet of salvation, to guard my mind from doubt and despair. I wield the sword of the Spirit, which is your word, as my weapon against the attacks of the enemy.
I pray that You would help me to be vigilant and alert, always in prayer and supplication, for myself and for all the saints. May your strength and power be my fortress and my defense, that I may stand strong in the face of every trial and temptation. I thank you dear Lord, almighty Heavenly Father for the victory that is mine in Christ, and for the assurance that I am more than a conqueror through You who loves me. I pray this throughout the mighty, glorious and victorious fulfilling name of Jesus Christ.
Amen!

Much love, joy, peace and blessings to you, through Jesus Christ, our almighty dear Lord, Saviour and Redeemer.
