Psalm 91 is a powerful declaration of GOD’S protection and faithfulness towards those who trust in Him. This psalm is a source of great comfort and encouragement for believers, especially during times of trouble and uncertainty. Let’s explore this beautiful psalm and reflect on its meaning in our lives.
Verse 1-2:
“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my GOD, in whom I trust.'”
In these verses, we are reminded that GOD is our ultimate shelter and refuge. When we make the choice to dwell in His presence and seek Him as our place of refuge, we find ourselves under His protective shadow. This means that as believers, we can have confidence in GOD’S care and protection over our lives. Let us take refuge to GOD for being our shelter and stronghold, and for the security we find in Him.
Verse 3-8:
“For He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only look with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked.”
These verses paint a vivid picture of GOD’S mighty protection over His people. We are reassured that GOD is our deliverer and protector, shielding us from the dangers and terrors of this world. His faithfulness acts as a shield and buckler, providing us with the strength and security we need. Let us take a moment to thank GOD for His faithfulness and protection, and to express our trust in His power to keep us safe.
Verse 9-13:
“Because you have made the LORD your dwelling place the Most High, who is my refuge no evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent. For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.”
These verses emphasize the importance of making the LORD almighty our dwelling place and finding refuge in Him. When we make GOD our priority and seek His presence, we are promised protection from all forms of evil and harm. GOD’S angels are commanded to guard and protect us in all our ways, ensuring that we do not stumble or falter. Let us take a moment to praise GOD for His provision of angelic protection and for keeping us safe from harm.
Verse 14-16:
“Because He holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name. When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”
In these final verses, we are reminded of GOD’S promise to those who hold fast to Him in love and know His name. GOD assures us that He will deliver, protect, and honor those who call upon Him in times of trouble. Additionally, He promises to satisfy us with long life and to show us His salvation. Let us make time every single day to thank GOD for His unfailing infinite love and commitment to protect and deliver us, and to pray for a deeper understanding of His salvation in our lives.
As we have meditated on this powerful psalm, may we be filled with a renewed sense of trust in GOD’S protection and infinite love for us. Let us continue to seek His presence as our shelter and refuge, and to trust in His faithfulness to keep us safe in all circumstances. May this psalm bring comfort and strength to our hearts, and may we live with the assurance that we are under the protective shadow of the Almighty.
Let us pray:
Dear LORD ALMIGHTY HEAVENLY FATHER,
We thank You for your promises of protection and provision, as outlined in Psalms 91:1-16. We pray for the strength and faith to trust in your shelter and refuge, knowing that you are our defender and deliverer. Help us to dwell in your presence and find rest in your shadow. Guard us from harm and evil, and grant us the assurance of your infinite love and faithfulness. Let Your angels watch over us and keep us safe from all danger. May we call upon you in times of trouble and know that You will answer us and be with us in our distress. May we experience Your salvation and healing, and find victory over every battle. We trust in Your mighty power and your promises, and we give you all the honor, praise and glory forevermore. Thank you dear LORD, almighty HEAVENLY FATHER. We pray this throughout the mighty, glorious, fulfilling name of JESUS CHRIST. Amen!
Much LoVe, JoY, Peace and Blessings to You, through JESUS CHRIST, our LORD, SAVIOUR and REDEEMER.
