Zechariah 4:6 says, “So he said to me, ‘This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty.”
In this verse, the prophet Zechariah delivers a message from the LORD to Zerubbabel, the governor of Judah. The message emphasizes that the success of GOD’S work is not dependent on human strength or ability, but rather on the power of the Holy Spirit. This is a powerful reminder for us as believers that we cannot accomplish GOD’S purposes in our own strength, but we must rely on the empowerment and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
It’s important to note that Zerubbabel was facing immense challenges as he sought to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem. He was up against opposition from surrounding nations, financial and resource limitations, and internal strife among the people. In the midst of these obstacles, the message from the LORD through Zechariah was a source of encouragement and a call to trust in the supernatural power of GOD.
As we study “Zachariah 4:6” we can draw several key lessons:
(1)Dependence on the Holy Spirit:
We are reminded that as believers, we are not called to rely solely on our own strength, wisdom, or resources. The Holy Spirit is our helper and guide, and it is through His empowerment that we can accomplish GOD’S purposes in our lives and in the world around us.
(2)Faith over fear:
Zerubbabel was facing daunting challenges, but the message from the LORD encouraged him to have faith in GOD’S supernatural ability to overcome those challenges. As we encounter difficulties in our own lives, we can take heart in the truth that GOD’S Spirit is greater than any obstacle we may face.
(3) GOD’S sovereignty and power:
This verse emphasizes the sovereignty and power of GOD. It is a reminder that GOD is in control, and His Spirit is at work in and through His people to accomplish His plans and purposes.
Let us Pray:
Dear LORD, almighty HEAVENLY FATHER, we come before you with humble hearts, recognizing our dependence on the Holy Spirit. We acknowledge that we cannot accomplish Your will in our own strength, but we need the empowerment and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Help us to surrender our self reliance and to trust in the supernatural power of Your Spirit to work in and through us. Dear LORD, almighty HEAVENLY FATHER, we bring before you the challenges and obstacles that we are facing. Whether it’s in our personal lives, our families, our communities, or the world at large, we recognize that these challenges are beyond our ability to overcome on our own. We ask for an outpouring of Your Spirit to bring about breakthrough, healing, and transformation in these areas of need. We also affirm your sovereignty and power, dear LORD, almighty HEAVENLY FATHER. We trust that You are in control, and we submit ourselves to Your will. May we be sensitive to the leading of Your Spirit, and may we walk in faith, not fear, knowing with a trustworthy, peacefully understanding that Your Spirit is greater than any opposition or limitation we may encounter. Thank you dear LORD, almighty HEAVENLY FATHER, for the assurance that we can rely on your Spirit to accomplish your purposes in our lives and in the world. May we be vessels of Your Spirit, bringing light and hope to those around us. We pray this throughout the mighty, glorious, fulfilling name of JESUS CHRIST. Amen!
Much LoVe, JoY, Peace and Blessings to You, through JESUS CHRIST, our LORD, SAVIOUR and REDEEMER.
