Hi there, and welcome to a new Bible Study on ‘The Beatitude”
Let’s reason and take an inspiring verse by verse look, on the Bibical study, scripture references of Matthew 5:1-12 below, followed with a summary, and uplifting Prayer before GOD’S Holy throne-room!
And He opened His mouth, and taught them, saying, (Matthew 5:2)
This verse is part of the Sermon on the Mount, which is one of the most famous teachings of JESUS CHRIST.
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.(Matthew 5:3)
JESUS begins His Sermon on the Mount by teaching about the characteristics of those who are blessed. The poor in spirit are those who recognize their own spiritual poverty and humility, and it is they who will inherit the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
(Matthew 5:4)
Those who mourn are blessed because they will be comforted by GOD. This mourning is not just about sorrow, but about a deep sense of regret and repentance for one’s sins.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. (Matthew 5:5)
The meek are those who are gentle and humble, and it is they who will inherit the earth. Meekness is not about being weak, but about being strong in one’s faith and trust in GOD.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.(Matthew 5:6)
Those who hunger and thirst after righteousness are blessed because they will be filled by GOD. This hunger and thirst is about a deep desire to live a righteous life and to follow GOD’S will.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
(Matthew 5:7)
The merciful are those who show kindness and compassion to others, and it is they who will obtain mercy from GOD. Mercy is about showing forgiveness and kindness to those who are in need of GOD’S love.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see GOD.
(Matthew 5:8)
Those who are pure in heart are blessed because they will see GOD. Purity of heart is about having a heart that is free from sin and corruption, and is focused on loving and serving GOD.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
(Matthew 5:9)
The peacemakers are those who work to bring peace and reconciliation to others, and it is they who will be called the children of GOD. Peacemaking is about bringing people together and resolving conflicts in a way that honors GOD.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 5:10)
Those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake are blessed because they will inherit the kingdom of heaven. Persecution is about facing opposition and hardship because of one’s faith and commitment to living a righteous life.
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. (Matthew 5:11)
JESUS teaches us that His followers will be blessed when they are reviled and persecuted for His sake. This is about facing opposition and hardship because of one’s faith and commitment to following JESUS.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. (Matthew 5:12)
JESUS encourages His followers to rejoice and be glad when they face persecution, because they will have a great reward in heaven. This is about trusting in GOD’S sovereignty and provision, even in the midst of hardship and opposition.
Let’s summarize this Bible Study together:
JESUS teaches about the characteristics of those who are blessed. These characteristics include being poor in spirit, mourning, being meek, hungering and thirsting after righteousness, being merciful, pure in heart, and being peacemakers.
