Psalm 44:1-8

Psalm 44:1-8 Old 44th Scottish Metrical Psalter 1650

Lyrics :

1 O God, we with our ears have heard, our fathers have us told, What works thou in their days hadst done, ev’n in the days of old. 2 Thy hand did drive the heathen out, and plant them in their place; Thou didst afflict the nations, but them thou didst increase.

3 For neither got their sword the land, nor did their arm them save; But thy right hand, arm, countenance; for thou them favor gave. 4 Thou art my King: for Jacob, Lord, deliv’rances command. 5 Through thee we shall push down our foes, that do against us stand: We, through thy name, shall tread down those that ris’n against us have.

6 For in my bow I shall not trust, nor shall my sword me save. 7 But from our foes thou hast us saved, our haters put to shame. 8 In God we all the day do boast, and ever praise thy name.

    1. Personally I believe that our almighty dear Heavenly Father desire us to joyously and vibrantly sing as from old in Psalms in His temple (congregation), to make our worship as rich and colorful as His creation. I find modern songs are long not as edifying specially when using electrical instruments, which can deafen the ears and therefore unhabitable in order to give honor, praise and glory to God.

  1. Yes David’s beautiful psalms of praise encompass all creatures, mountains, hills, trees, cattle, birds, all are called to glorify God in a way that foreshadows the worship of the Lord on the holy mountain in New Jerusalem. The whole earth is called to sing to the Lord (Psalms 66:1-2).

The beautiful inspiring bible vers of Colossians 3:16 shows us clearly what God desires us to do as His children which is so beautiful, it truly satisfy our heart with joy. 🙂

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
