Romans 12:1

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. “Romans 12:1′

In the previous verse, Jesus is mentioned as being willing to suffer for the sake of future joy. Paul begins a new section in Romans 12 of his letter. Here, he begins describing how we should live as believers in Christ. Paul emphasizes the need for Christians to offer themselves as living sacrifices to God. To put it another way, the only rational response to God’s mercy in giving us eternal life is to offer up our lives as a sacrifice for His purposes.

As fallen sinners, we are beyond comparison in terms of the grace and mercy we have received from God. It is entirely due to God’s wonderful grace that we are saved. As humans, there is nothing we can do to repay God. However, we can certainly give ourselves to Him in gratitude and love by presenting our bodies as living sacrifices, which are pure and pleasing to God.

Obviously, this is not a command, since God desires that our love and service be freely offered. Nevertheless, in light of the inestimable riches of God’s free grace, which He has poured out in great measure on fallen sinners, surely presenting our bodies, day by day, in spiritual worship is an honor and a delight for ourselves.

Let us pray:

Dear Lord, almighty Heavenly Father, You have given me eternal life through Your Son Jesus Christ as a gift of forgiveness of my sins. Now I offer You everything I am and all I have. That is my logical response to the divine love You have shown me. This is my way of worshiping You spiritually. My life is consecrated to You. Please take my life, dear Lord, and allow me to be Your living sacrifice. It is my joy to praise You for the amazing gift of salvation. Thank you dear Lord, almighty Heavenly Father. I pray this throughout the mighty glorious fulfilling name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Much LoVe, JoY, Peace and Blessings through Jesus Christ, our almighty, wonderful dear Lord, Saviour and Redeemer.

  1. Romans is one of my fav books in the Bible. Even though I’m Catholic, my fav translation is the KJV, because each verse is separated, which makes meditation on individual verses easier for me. Plus, I love the poetic sound of the King James. I think most of us truly desire to present our bodies a living sacrifice to God. We know it’s the only path to true peace, happiness, and health. However it’s not an easy focus to maintain. I have found the easiest way for me to do this is to fall madly in love with Jesus. To focus on him as my beloved, the love of my life. To visualize him walking with me every moment of the day. I often wonder if this is why the scriptures keep telling us love satisfies all the commandments. It certainly is a stress-free way to live!

    1. Amen and Amen Sister, Thank you so much for your kind thoughts, and true fulfilling inspiring words that you reflect from your experience. The King James Version (KJV) is certainly one of the most widely recognized English translations of the Bible. I truly believe like you that many Christians appreciate its wide language and historical significance. The choice of translation depends on personal preference and understanding. It can be helpful to compare different translations to gain a comprehensive understanding of the marvelous righteous Word of God. Ultimately I discern its very important to study the Bible with an open heart and seek guidance from the Holy Spirit in our journey and faith fulfilling inspiring words of God. Thank you for stepping by and sharing your kind experienced, inspiring thoughts. May God bless you dear Sister.

      1. Thank you, dear friend!! I agree about personal preference and using a variety of translations to gain a deeper understanding of the scriptures. I have read many translations of the Bible. The day I was born again 35 years ago I fell madly in love with the Word and have been addicted to reading and studying the scriptures ever since. Whenever I need a clearer understanding of a word or phrase my go-to is the Amplified Bible Classic Edition. And I will always treasure the Living Bible, which was my first Bible back in the early 70s (I was one of those hippie kids in the Jesus Revolution and that was our Bible…lol). I also enjoy several other translations like The Message, NIV, NASB, and The Passion Translation. We are blessed to have so many wonderful translations, aren’t we? There is something for everyone, and I have found different translations broaden my understanding of the scriptures, which is such a delight!! Always a pleasure chatting with you. Have a blessed day, dear friend!! 💗
