The Kingdom of God

So when they met together they asked Him, ‘Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel? “Acts 1:6

The disciples were filled with anticipation and excitement as they asked Jesus about the restoration of the kingdom to Israel. They were waiting for the fulfillment of the promises of God and the arrival of the Messiah’s kingdom. This question reveals their longing for a change in the political and social circumstances of their time. They were eager for Jesus to establish His kingdom on earth and bring about a new age of righteousness and justice.

But Jesus’ response to their question was unexpected. He told them that it was not for them to know the times or dates that the Father has set by His own authority. Instead, He directed them to focus on the task at hand, to be His witnesses to the ends of the earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit.

In this passage, we are reminded that the kingdom of God is not simply a political or social kingdom that can be established through human efforts. It is a spiritual kingdom that transcends earthly power and authority. The kingdom of God is about the rule and reign of God in the hearts of people, bringing about transformation and restoration on a spiritual level.

As believers in Christ, we too can sometimes get caught up in our longing for change in the world around us. We may be eager to see justice and righteousness prevail, and we may become frustrated when we do not see these changes happening as quickly as we would like. But Jesus reminds us that His kingdom is not of this world, and its arrival is not dependent on our human timetables.

Instead, our focus should be on being faithful witnesses of Jesus Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit to share the good news of His kingdom with those around us. As we do so, we can trust that God is at work, bringing about His kingdom in the hearts and lives of people, ultimately leading to the restoration and redemption of all things.

So as we patiently wait for the full realization of God’s Kingdom on earth, let us be faithful in our calling to share the love and hope of our almighty dear Lord; Jesus Christ with others, trusting that His glorious, new fulfilling Kingdom will come in His perfect divine timing.

Let us pray:

dear Lord, almighty Heavenly Father, help us to trust in Your perfect divine timing and Your miraculous fulfilling ways as we seek to be faithful witnesses of Your kingdom. Empower us by Your Holy Spirit to share the love and hope of Jesus Christ with those around us, and may Your kingdom come in the hearts and lives of people, bringing about transformation and restoration. Thank you dear Lord, almighty Heavenly Father. We pray this throughout the mighty, glorious, fulfilling name of our Lord and Saviour; Jesus Christ. Amen.

Much LoVe, JoY, Peace and Blessings, through Jesus Christ.

    1. It’s true indeed Sister Nancy. Throughout history, there have been various predictions and speculations about the end times. However, as mentioned in Matthew 24:36, “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” This verse reminds us that only God knows the exact timing of the end times.

Trusting in God’s perfect timing and His promise of a glorious Kingdom to come is indeed our anchor of hope. As we await His return, let us continue to live faithfully, spreading His love and light in this world.

If you have any more questions or if there’s anything else you’d like to discuss about faith or biblical teachings, feel free to share Sister Nancy.
