Welcome to an new updated Bible Study of Ephesians, Chapter 4:

Let’s reason and take an inspiring verse by verse look at “Ephesians 4-1-32“, followed with a Summary and uplifting Prayer before GOD’S throne-room.

I therefore, the prisoner of the LORD, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One LORD, one faith, one baptism, One GOD and FATHER of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of CHRIST. Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of CHRIST: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of GOD, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of CHRIST: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even CHRIST: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. This I say therefore, and testify in the LORD, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of GOD through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
But ye have not so learned CHRIST; If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in JESUS: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after GOD is created in righteousness and true holiness. Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
Neither give place to the devil. Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy Spirit of GOD, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as GOD for CHRIST’S sake hath forgiven you. “Ephesians 4:1-32

Ephesians 4:1-32” is a powerful passage that addresses the unity and maturity of the body of CHRIST. In this passage, the apostle Paul encourages believers to walk in a manner worthy of their calling, to be united in love, and to live in accordance with the truth of the gospel.

Let’s begin our study by looking at verse 1, where Paul writes, “I therefore, a prisoner for the LORD, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called.” This verse sets the tone for the entire passage, as Paul calls believers to live in a manner that reflects the calling they have received as followers of CHRIST. As Christians, we are called to live a life of holiness, love, and unity, and this verse reminds us of the responsibility we have to walk in obedience to GOD’S Word.

In verses 2-3, Paul highlights the importance of humility, gentleness, patience, and bearing with one another in love. These qualities are essential for maintaining unity in the body of CHRIST. As believers, we are called to exhibit these traits in our relationships with one another, demonstrating the love and grace that GOD has shown us.

In verses 4-6, Paul emphasizes the unity of the Spirit and the oneness of the body of Christ. He reminds us that there is one body, one Spirit, one hope, one LORD, one faith, one baptism, and one GOD and FATHER of all. This serves as a powerful reminder that despite our differences, we are all part of the same body, united in CHRIST and called to live in harmony with one another.

In verses 7-16, Paul discusses the diversity of spiritual gifts within the body of CHRIST and the purpose of these gifts in building up the church. He explains that GOD has given each believer a unique set of gifts and talents, and these are meant to be used for the edification of the body. When each member of the body of CHRIST operates in their gifting, the entire body grows and matures in love and faith.

In verses 17-24, Paul exhorts believers to put off the old self and put on the new self, which is created after the likeness of GOD in true righteousness and holiness. This is a call to continual sanctification and growth in our walk with the LORD, as we strive to live in a manner that reflects the character of CHRIST.

Finally, in verses 25-32, Paul provides practical instructions for living in accordance with the truth of the gospel. He emphasizes the importance of speaking the truth in love, not allowing anger to lead to sin, working diligently and using our words to build up others. This serves as a powerful reminder of the transformative power of the gospel in our lives and the impact it should have on our relationships and interactions with others.

As we reflect on this inspiring, and encouraged passage, let us take the time to pray and ask GOD to help us live in a manner worthy of our calling as believers. Let us pray for unity and love within the body of CHRIST, that we may bear with one another in patience and seek to build one another up in love. Let us ask GOD to reveal the spiritual gifts He has given us and to empower us to use them for the edification of the church. Finally, let us pray for the grace to live in accordance with the truth of the gospel, putting off our old selves and putting on the new self created in the likeness of our almighty dear LORD, SAVIOUR and REDEEMER.

Let us Pray:

Dear LORD almighty HEAVENLY FATHER, we thank you for the calling you have placed on our lives as believers. We pray that you would help us to walk in a manner worthy of this calling, living in obedience to your marvelous, righteous Word and seeking to glorify You in all that we do. We ask for unity and love within the body of CHRIST, that we may bear with one another in patience and show grace and mercy to one another. We pray that You would reveal to us the spiritual gifts you have given us and empower us to use them for the edification of the church. We ask for the grace to put off our old selves and to put on the new self, created in the likeness of You, in true righteousness and holiness. Help us to live in accordance with the truth of Your gospel, speaking the truth in love and using our words to build up others. We pray for the strength to not let anger lead us to sin, but to seek reconciliation and forgiveness in our relationships. May our lives be a reflection of your infinite love and grace, and may we continually grow and mature in our faith as we strive to live out the calling you have placed on us. Thank you dear LORD, almighty HEAVENLY FATHER. We pray this throughout the mighty, glorious, fulfilling name of JESUS CHRIST. Amen!

Much LoVe, JoY, Peace and Blessings to You, through JESUS CHRIST, our almighty, fulfilling, dear LORD, SAVIOUR and REDEEMER.
