Welcome to a new Bible Study On “The True Meaning of the Two Feast Days of Pentecost”

Let’s reason and take an inspiring verse by verse look, at the Bible study references below, followed with a summary, and humbling ourselves by uplifting our prayer request, before GOD’s Holy throne-room!

“And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete: Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD. Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals: they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the LORD. And ye shall offer with the bread seven lambs without blemish of the first year, and one young bullock, and two rams: they shall be for a burnt offering unto the LORD, with their meat offering, and their drink offerings, even an offering made by fire, of sweet savour unto the LORD. Then ye shall sacrifice one kid of the goats for a sin offering, and two lambs of the first year for a sacrifice of peace offerings. And the priest shall wave them with the bread of the firstfruits for a wave offering before the LORD, with the two lambs: they shall be holy to the LORD for the priest. And ye shall proclaim on the selfsame day, that it may be a holy convocation unto you: ye shall do no servile work therein: it shall be a statute forever in all your dwellings throughout your generations.”
(Leviticus 23:15-22)

This passage outlines the instructions for the Feast of Weeks, also known as PENTECOST, which is celebrated fifty days after the Passover.

PENTECOST serves as both a harvest festival and a remembrance of the giving of the Law at Sinai. The offering of the two wave loaves symbolizes the coming together of both Jews and Gentiles in the NEW COVENANT, where all believers are united in CHRIST.

“And when the day of PENTECOST was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the HOLY GHOST and began to speak with other tongues, as the SPIRIT gave them utterance.” (Acts 2:1-4)

The fulfillment of PENTECOST occurs in Acts when the HOLY SPIRIT is poured out upon the disciples. This event marks the birth of the Church and the empowering of believers to proclaim the Gospel. The cloven tongues signify the universal reach of the message of salvation, allowing people of various languages to hear in their own tongue the wonders of GOD.

“In the last day, that great day of the feast, JESUS stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. But this spake he of the SPIRIT, which they that believe on him should receive: for the HOLY GHOST was not yet given; because that JESUS was not yet glorified.”
(John 7:37-39)

This invitation from JESUS reveals the deep spiritual significance of the feasts. The “rivers of living water” symbolizes the HOLY SPIRIT, which believers would receive. On PENTECOST, the promise of living water flows freely into the hearts of those who believe, indicating the ongoing work of the SPIRIT in the life of the Church.

“Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same SPIRIT. And there are differences of administrations, but the same LORD. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same GOD which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the SPIRIT is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the SPIRIT the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same SPIRIT; To another faith by the same SPIRIT; to another the gifts of healing by the same SPIRIT; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame SPIRIT, dividing to every man severally as he will.” (1 Corinthians 12:4-11)

This passage highlights the diverse gifts of the HOLY SPIRIT given to believers. During PENTECOST, the SPIRIT empowers the Church, equipping each member for the work of the ministry. This unity in diversity illustrates the collective strength of the BODY OF CHRIST, where each believer plays a vital role in the mission of the Church.
