Walking in Truth While the World Walks in Shadows

BIBLE STUDY AUDIO PART 1/2

Hi, and Welcome to a new Bible Study on “Walking in Truth While the World Walks in Shadows

Let’s reason and take an inspiring verse by verse look, at the Bible study references below, followed with a summary, and uplifting prayer request, before GOD’s Holy throne-room:

PART 1: RECOGNIZING THE WORLD SYSTEM

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the FATHER is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the FATHER, but is of the world.”
(1 John 2:15-16)

John names the system plainly: flesh, eyes, and pride. This is the machinery behind advertising, status, greed, and image, the very engine so much of modern life runs on. He isn’t condemning the earth GOD made; he’s warning against the value system built on top of it that competes for our hearts.

“And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of GOD abideth for ever.”
(1 John 2:17)

Every empire, every corporation, every ideology built on lust and pride has an expiration date. Only obedience to GOD has permanence. This is the anchor point for everything that follows.

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of GOD.”
(Romans 12:2)

Conformity happens passively, through screens, culture, routine. Transformation requires an active renewing of the mind. Paul is describing a daily choice: absorb the world’s mold, or let GOD reshape your thinking.

“Ye adulterers and adulterers, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with GOD? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of GOD.”
(James 4:4)

Strong language, deliberately so. James is saying there is no neutral ground; the systems opposing GOD’s ways aren’t harmless background noise, they are active enmity, whether people recognize it or not.

PART 2: THE BLINDNESS AND THE DECEIVER BEHIND IT

“In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of CHRIST, who is the image of GOD, should shine unto them.”
(2 Corinthians 4:4)

Paul identifies a real spiritual blinding at work, not just ignorance, but active concealment. This is why people can look straight at corruption and not see it: the blindness is spiritual before it’s intellectual.

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”
(Isaiah 5:20)

This is moral inversion, when a culture’s language itself gets bent so wrong is rebranded as progress and truth as intolerance. Isaiah’s woe is for a society, not just individuals, that has lost its ability to tell the difference.

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
(Ephesians 6:12)

Paul goes past politics and economics to the root: behind corrupt human systems are spiritual powers. This doesn’t excuse human wrongdoing; it explains why fighting corruption with human strategy alone is never enough.

“And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be GOD, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.”
(1 Kings 18:21)

The ancient Baal system, fertility, prosperity, and power worship, is the Bible’s clearest picture of a counterfeit god competing for allegiance. Elijah’s question is the same one every generation faces in a new costume: who are you actually serving?

“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve GOD and mammon.”
(Matthew 6:24)

JESUS names the modern Baal by another name, mammon, the spirit of money and material security as god. Divided loyalty isn’t possible; one master will always win out.

PART 3: WOLVES IN SHEEP’S CLOTHING, THE WARNING ABOUT DECEIVERS

“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”
(Matthew 7:15)

JESUS’s warning is specifically about disguise, deception that looks gentle, religious, or reasonable on the outside. Discernment, not gullibility, is the command.

“For there shall arise false CHRISTS, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”
(Matthew 24:24)

Even sincere believers are not automatically immune; JESUS says deception can be convincing enough to reach “the very elect.” This is a call to sober watchfulness, not fear.

“And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.”
(2 Corinthians 11:14)

Deception rarely announces itself as evil. It appears attractive, enlightened, even righteous. This is why testing everything against Scripture, not appearances, matters so much.

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of GOD; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”
(2 Timothy 3:1-5)

Paul’s list reads like a description of a self-obsessed, pleasure-driven culture that keeps religious appearance while draining out its substance. His instruction is direct: turn away.

“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the LORD that bought them… And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you.”
(2 Peter 2:1-3)

Peter warns specifically about people who profit from deceiving others, “feigned words” used to exploit, whether financially, politically, or spiritually. This is corruption with a smiling face.

“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after CHRIST.”
(Colossians 2:8)

New laws, new philosophies, new traditions dressed as wisdom, Paul says test them against one measure: are they after CHRIST, or after the world’s rudiments (basic elemental systems)?

“For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.”
(Acts 20:29-30)

Paul warns the deception won’t only come from outside; it will rise up from within trusted circles too, using truth partially and perversely.

PART 4: THE TRUE SOVEREIGN AND HIS KINGDOM

“The earth is the LORD’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.”
(Psalm 24:1)

No government, corporation, or system owns what it claims to control. Everything ultimately belongs to GOD, a truth that quietly dismantles the world’s claim to final authority.

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.”
(Proverbs 3:5-6)

This is the antidote to confusion, not more information, but wholehearted trust and acknowledgment of GOD in every decision, not just spiritual ones.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
(Jeremiah 29:11)

Even amid captivity and corrupt empires (this verse was spoken to exiles in Babylon), GOD’s plans for His people remain good. The world’s chaos does not have the final word over your life.

“And He changeth the times and the seasons: He removeth kings, and setteth up kings: He giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding.”
(Daniel 2:21)

Kings, governments, and systems rise and fall entirely within GOD’s permission, a truth that should settle fear about who’s really in control.

PART 5: TRUE FREEDOM AND ABUNDANT LIFE IN CHRIST

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
(John 8:32)

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
(John 8:36)

Real freedom isn’t political or economic; it’s freedom from deception and sin itself, given directly by CHRIST. This is freedom “indeed,” total, not partial or conditional.

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith CHRIST hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”
(Galatians 5:1)

Freedom has to be actively guarded; Paul assumes people can drift back into bondage, whether legalism or worldly systems, if they stop standing firm.

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
(John 10:10)

This verse draws the clearest contrast in the whole study: the thief (the world system, the deceiver) steals and destroys; Only CHRIST gives life, and gives it more abundantly. Every corrupt system, at its root, operates on the first half of this verse. CHRIST alone offers the second and nobody else.

“JESUS saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the FATHER, but by Me.”
(John 14:6)

Amid every competing path the world offers, JESUS names Himself as the singular way, not a way, but the way, truth, and life together.

“But my GOD shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by CHRIST JESUS.”
(Philippians 4:19)

This directly answers the fear that drives so much worldly striving, scarcity. GOD’s supply is described in terms of riches in glory, not worldly economy.

PART 6: STAYING ALERT AND ON TRACK

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”
(1 Peter 5:8)

Vigilance isn’t paranoia; it’s sober awareness that there is real opposition, and it’s active, not passive.

“And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.”
(Revelation 18:4)

A call to separation, not isolation from people, but refusal to participate in systems of corruption, so as not to share their coming consequences.

“Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto JESUS the author and finisher of our faith…”
(Hebrews 12:1-2)

The “through way” of life this study points to; this is it. Endurance comes from fixing eyes on JESUS, not on the noise around us.

LET’S SUMMARIZE THIS BIBLE STUDY TOGETHER:

The Bible does not pretend the world is a neutral place. Scripture describes an active system, built on pride, fear, and false security, that has always tried to capture human hearts and rename deception as freedom. Behind visible corruption in governments and corporations lies a deeper spiritual reality Paul names directly: this is not merely a human problem, but a spiritual one.

And yet, the answer given throughout Scripture is never panic. It’s clarity. GOD has never lost control of His creation. He is not competing with Baal, mammon, or any earthly power; He simply asks to be acknowledged as what He already is: sovereign, faithful, and abundantly good. The wolves in sheep’s clothing, the perilous times, the deceptions convincing enough to fool “the very elect,” none of it changes our almighty Sovereign, Reigning, HEAVENLY FATHER’ who sits on His throne.

The invitation is simple and repeated again and again: trust with our whole heart, acknowledge GOD in every way, stand firm in the Freedom CHRIST already purchased, and stay awake. Not out of fear, but because you already know how the story ends, the world and its lust are passing away, but the one who does the will of GOD abides forever.

LET’S HUMBLE OURSELVES AND LIFT OUR PRAYER BEFORE GOD’S HOLY THRONE-ROOM:

Dear LORD, Almighty HEAVENLY FATHER’, Thank YOU that YOU are not distant or absent, but truly sovereign over every nation, system, and power that claims control over this earth. Forgive us for the moments we have been distracted, conformed, or blinded by the noise, pride, and false promises of this world. Open our eyes, LORD, the way YOU opened the eyes of those YOU loved throughout Scripture, so we can see clearly what is truth and what is counterfeit. We ask for discernment to recognize wolves in sheep’s clothing, and wisdom to test every voice, every doctrine, every new law of men against YOUR Word alone. Keep us from the fear that drives so much of this world’s striving, and remind us constantly that YOU are our provider, our shepherd, and our source of true abundant life, not any government, company, or system claiming otherwise.Thank YOU, dear LORD Almighty HEAVENLY FATHER’ for making us free indeed. Help us stand fast in that freedom, refusing to be entangled again in bondage. Renew our minds daily, strengthen our endurance, and keep our eyes fixed on YOU as the author and finisher of our faith. We acknowledge YOU in all our ways, trusting YOU above our own understanding. Lead us in YOUR path, keep us sober and vigilant, and let our lives abide in the truth, not in the passing shadows of this world. Thank You dear LORD, almighty HEAVENLY FATHER’. We pray this, throughout the mighty, glorious, fulfilling name of JESUS CHRIST! AMEN!

Much LoVe, JoY, Peace and Blessings to You, through JESUS CHRIST, our almighty dear LORD, SAVIOUR and REDEEMER!
