Hi, and Welcome to a new Bible Study on: “The Name Above Every Name! – Walking in Authority and True Liberty”

Let’s reason and take an inspiring verse by verse look, at the Bible study references below, followed with a summary, and uplifting prayer request, before GOD’s Holy Throne-Room:

I. The Foundation – Understanding the “I AM” and the Authority of GOD’S Name:

“And GOD said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.”
(EXODUS 3:14)

Here, beloved, we stand upon HOLY ground. When Moses stood before the burning bush, questioning his own sufficiency, the Eternal One revealed Himself not as a distant deity, but as the self-existent, unchanging, ever-present I AM. This is not merely a title it is the divine declaration of absolute being, the source from which all authority flows. The Hebrew Ehyeh Asher Ehyeh speaks of the GOD who is, who was, and who ever shall be the uncaused Cause, the unmoved Mover. When we invoke GOD’S name in faith, we are not uttering syllables into the void; we are calling upon the very essence of existence Himself.

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
(JOHN 8:36)

The freedom of which our LORD speaks is not the shallow liberty that political movements promise, nor the temporary autonomy that earthly constitutions grant. This is freedom indeed the emancipation of the soul from sin’s tyranny, the breaking of chains that no human government can see, let alone shackle. The Son, who is the express image of the I AM, possesses authority to liberate the inner man, and this liberty becomes the fortress from which no external oppression can ultimately remove us.

II. The Name of JESUS – The Fullness of the I AM Made Manifest:

“Wherefore GOD also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of JESUS every knee should bow, of things in HEAVEN, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that JESUS CHRIST is LORD, to the glory of GOD the Father.”
(PHILIPPIANS 2:9-11)

The name that we use in authority the name that causes the I AM to become alive in our experience is the name of JESUS. This is the name above every name, the name that HEAVEN honors, hell fears, and history bends toward. When we speak this name in faith, we are not merely reciting letters; we are invoking the sovereign LORD of all creation.

Consider the depth of this mystery: The I AM, who spoke to Moses from the flame, has stepped into human history as the I AM come near. When JESUS declared “Before Abraham was, I AM” (JOHN 8:58), He was not speaking in past tense He was declaring His eternal deity. And this same JESUS, who is one with the Father, has given His name to His people as the instrument of divine authority.

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under HEAVEN given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
(ACTS 4:12)

SALVATION soteria in the Greek encompasses not merely the rescue of the soul from hell, but the deliverance of the whole person: SPIRIT, soul, and body; past, present, and future; individual and communal. There is no other name. Not the name of a political party. Not the name of a revolutionary movement. Not the name of a philosophical system. Only JESUS. This is the name that breaks chains, opens prison doors, and causes the captive to sing songs of liberty in the midnight hour.

III. Authority Over the Powers of This World:

“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
(LUKE 10:19)

The authority given to the believer is not theoretical it is operational. The same JESUS who walked through the synagogues setting captives free has delegated His authority to His CHURCH. The word translated “power” here is exousia the right to exercise authority, the legal permission to act in His name. We do not usurp this authority; we inherit it as sons and daughters of the Most High.

When authoritarian governments arise, when the machinery of state becomes a mechanism of oppression, the child of GOD is not without recourse. We do not meet force with force in the flesh, for “the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through GOD to the pulling down of strong holds” (2 CORINTHIANS 10:4). We meet tyranny with the authority of HEAVEN, with the name that causes demons to tremble and principalities to give way.

“Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of GOD: the powers that be are ordained of GOD.”
(ROMANS 13:1)

This verse must be understood in its fullness. All earthly authority is derivative it flows from the throne of GOD. When earthly powers acknowledge their Source, they serve their proper function as ministers of justice. But when they become rebellious against the Author of liberty, when they demand worship that belongs only to GOD, the believer must obey GOD rather than men (ACTS 5:29). Our submission is not absolute; it is qualified by our ultimate allegiance to the King of kings.

IV. The Liberty of the Sons of GOD:

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith CHRIST hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”
(GALATIANS 5:1)

The apostle writes with urgency: Stand fast. The liberty purchased by CHRIST is not a passive state it is an active, militant posture. The yoke of bondage takes many forms: religious legalism, political totalitarianism, social conformity, personal addiction. But the child of GOD has been called to FREEDOM, and this FREEDOM must be defended daily.

To live freely in the I AM is to live under the government of GOD, which is the only government that perfectly protects liberty while demanding righteousness. The kingdom of GOD is within you (LUKE 17:21), and where the SPIRIT of the LORD is, there is liberty (2 CORINTHIANS 3:17). No external force can ultimately imprison the soul that is free in CHRIST.

“But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in His deed.”
(JAMES 1:25)

The law of liberty is the law of love, the royal law, the perfect law that sets men free to become what they were created to be. To look into this law to meditate upon it, to internalize it, to live it is to discover the pattern for true human flourishing. This is the freedom that authoritarian governments cannot comprehend and cannot confiscate, for it resides in the regenerated heart.

V. The Name That Makes the I AM Alive in Us:

“And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.”
(JOHN 14:13-14)

The name of JESUS is not a magic formula it is the expression of a covenant relationship. When we ask in His name, we are asking according to His character, His divined will, His true purposes. And what is His divined will? That we might have life, and have it more abundantly (JOHN 10:10). That we might be FREE!

The I AM becomes alive in us when we appropriate the name of JESUS by faith. This is not mere intellectual assent; it is the union of the human SPIRIT with the divine SPIRIT. “He that is joined unto the LORD is one SPIRIT” (1 CORINTHIANS 6:17). In this union, we draw upon resources that transcend the material world. We live from a place of abundance while the world lives from scarcity. We walk in authority while the world groans under oppression.

“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the LORD JESUS, giving thanks to GOD and the Father by him.”
(COLOSSIANS 3:17)

Every action, every word, every thought is to be offered in the name of JESUS. This is the secret of the Christian life: not our strength, but His; not our wisdom, but His; not our authority, but His, exercised through us by the indwelling of the HOLY SPIRIT.

Let’s summarize this Bible Study together:

1. The I AM is the Self Existent One The GOD who revealed Himself to Moses is the source of all authority and the ground of all being.

2. JESUS is the Fullness of the I AM The name of JESUS is the name above every name, the only name given for salvation, and the instrument of divine authority.

3. True Freedom is SPIRITUAL First The liberty CHRIST gives is freedom indeed, beginning in the SPIRIT and extending to every area of life.

4. Believers Have Delegated Authority We walk in exousia, the right to exercise HEAVEN’s power against the powers of darkness and oppression.

5. Earthly Authority is Limited While we respect earthly governments as ordained by GOD, our ultimate allegiance is to the King of kings, and we obey GOD rather than men when the two conflict.

6. Liberty Must Be Defended We are called to stand fast in freedom and not be entangled again in bondage, whether religious, political, or personal.

7. The Name of JESUS Activates Divine Power Asking and acting in JESUS’ name brings the resources of HEAVEN to bear on earthly circumstances.

8. The Law of Liberty is the Perfect Law True freedom is found in alignment with GOD’s design, not in rebellion against it.

Let us humble ourselves, and lift our requested prayers before, GOD’s Holly Throne-room:

Dear LORD, Almighty HEAVENLY FATHER, I AM THAT I AM, We come before You in the mighty name of JESUS, the name above every name, the name that causes every knee to bow and every tongue to confess that JESUS CHRIST is LORD. We thank You that You have not left us as orphans in a world of oppression, but have given us Your SPIRIT and Your authority to walk as free men and women. Dear LORD, almighty HEAVENLY FATHER’ we declare that JESUS is LORD over our lives, our families, our communities, and our nations. We take the authority You have given us to tread upon serpents and scorpions, to overcome all the power of the enemy. We stand fast in the liberty wherewith CHRIST has made us free, and we refuse to be entangled again with any yoke of bondage. For those who live under the shadow of authoritarian governments, we pray for Your protection and Your provision. Let the name of JESUS be their fortress and their strong tower. Let the SPIRIT of liberty burn brightly within them, that no external chain can bind the soul that You have set FREE. Dear LORD, almighty HEAVENLY FATHER’, we ask that the I AM would become alive in us fully, powerfully, manifestly. Let Your mighty presence go before us. Let Your mighty name open doors that no man can shut. Let Your kingdom come and Your will be done on EARTH as it is in HEAVEN.
We declare that we are more than conquerors through CHRIST who love us. We declare that no weapon formed against us shall prosper. We declare that CHRIST who is in us is greater than he who is in the world. Thank You dear LORD, almighty HEAVENLY FATHER’. Hear our prayers throughout
the mighty, glorious, fulfilling name, of JESUS CHRIST. AMEN!
